Val Umscheid

I was born in England and moved to Canada in 1975 - partly due to an affliction called 'wanderlust'.  I studied travel and tourism in 1993/94, and since then I have been fortunate enough to have continued being a part of the travel industry.  For most of my career, I designed and escorted tours to many destinations, and now I have decided to retire and let the team continue to make your ‘travel dreams’ come true.  I am thrilled to be transferring ownership of Global Getaways to my step son, Chris.   I have visited numerous areas of the world, and various destinations in Canada and the U.S., and  I  hope to continue travelling, and enjoying this amazing planet.

Jennifer Gore

  I was born in Vulcan, AB.  but I was raised in many countries as my family travelled the world on business, and I am sure this is where and how my love of travel blossomed.   I studied Travel and Tourism at The Career College in Calgary,  and after graduating, I lived in Paris, France for a year and studied the French language.  I worked in travel until I had my family of 3 boys and I spent the next few years raising them and enjoying most weekends at sporting events.  Because of this, I now specialize in escorting groups to sporting events in North America.  I love planning trips of all kinds, and as I have been fortunate enough to travel this world, I have extensive knowledge of many destinations.

 Brooklynn Neufeld

Hello, I'm Brooklynn, a travel enthusiast based in Calgary.

I am so excited to be joining the Global Getaways team! I've had the pleasure of exploring 30 countries before turning 30, and I continue to embrace my passion for travel. My goal is to match my age with the number of countries I've visited, and I'm well on my way.

Some of my favourite travel memories are living in Australia for a year, hiking the Inca Trail, watching the Sunrise at the Taj Mahal, and sunset from the cliffs in Santorini on my Honeymoon. With these experiences and more I offer practical knowledge and guidance. Whether you seek thrilling adventures or peaceful getaways, I've experienced it all firsthand.

 Mariel Zamorano

Hey All! My name is Mariel!

I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and am a momma to two neurodivergent kiddos.

Life and learning took me on an adventure to Edmonton where I took my first dive into travel by joining the wholesale travel industry in 2007. Mainly booking sun destinations, and subsequently falling deeply in love with Hawaii, Mexico, and Southern California. In these years I also became a group booking expert. Planning multi-day itineraries and excursions for large groups.

After a slight detour working in a different industry, I still had occasion to book travel for friends and family to visit each other, and once again came back to my love of travel by working for an airline.

Living in Calgary has given me a great opportunity to explore my own backyard, traveling to Banff, Jasper, and beyond.

My family and I enjoy road adventures down to the U.S. or out to the Pacific coast as well.

Most of my knowledge and expertise come from lived experience and learning along the way. My favourite destinations are Oahu, Los Angeles, Puerto Vallarta, Santiago, and Vancouver. I love to plan vacations, from finding the right flight for your needs to excursions, travel assistance, and hotel accommodations. 

I am currently working on learning about destinations that are on my Bucket list such as Europe and hope to share with you all soon!
